Imagine being an up an coming artist yourself. Now think about how you have to operate independently to assure your own success. Think about what you need in order to make a real profit. Now think about booking your own show. Imagine finding a location that can not only provide ambience, but it’s also well equipped with the space for your audience. Now imagine receiving the quote for that space and then proceeding to book it to only be told before the transaction that the venue doesn’t believe that you are a good fit for the crowd they want to bring.
Instantly you like many would say, “WTF YOU MEAN “NOT A GOOD FIT?!”
Instead of getting angry and reacting and doing something that you would regret, you instead open up your own venue to assure that artist alike never have to experience the same.
Good news, you no longer have to imagine what that would be like because there is somebody here in the City of Houston that has experienced that and then opened up his own venue The Media Block. In September of 2017 Q Guyton along with his wife La’Monica and her twin sister Veronica opened their first Media Block location on the SouthSide of Houston.
Since it’s opening, an array of different artist has visited its Studios from Tobe Nwigwe to Z-Ro to Bun B, Slim Thug, Yolanda Adams and many others.
This past Saturday, one of many collection of concerts Q. Guyton and God Body Bingo put together a red carpet event that their fans truly enjoyed. Q showcased his interactive performance complete with a short film and lights reacting to the action in the movie. I felt completely immersed in the experience for a brief moment I had to stop and pay attention to the fact that he is also on stage performing. Any time, I hear Q Guyton and Allie Frank together it just warms my soul. Allie Frank’s powerful voice will make you stop look and pay attention to who is making such wonderful sounds.
At one point, I couldn’t help myself and an involuntary outburst “MAN YALL AINT FUCKING WITH THAT BOY Q, DAWG!!!”
Immediately noticing the crowd had heard me, I tucked back in the corner as if no one could see my super bright self in the dark. It didn’t work. I was seen. and got a quick shout out. Q.’s performance right now is the culmination of years perfecting it. Immersive, entertaining, and insightful. To truly understand what I mean you just have to see it for yourself.
now, if you want to talk about ENERGY then overstand that God Body Bingo brings that and more! Aye man, every time I see an artist bring is gal into the performance, it just touches my soul. Especially when they have more energy than their dude! His gal got on the mic to spit one of his verses and you could a real life energy wave rush through everyone in the crowd.
God Body Bingo is an artist you should definitely keep tabs on to see what he has going on.
Over all this was a spectacular event and I am so very proud of both Q and God Body Bingo. Consistency always will prevail and these brothers are not only consistent, they are DOPE!
So don’t be a asshole, go follow them and pull up when they are doing something dope.
